Ravindra Jadeja came out all guns blazing against Australia. He first managed to dismiss the dangerman Mitchell Marsh who was the top run scorer for Australia, then he took a superb catch himself off Kuldeep Yadav to account for Marnus Labuschagne. Jadeja, who had injured himself during the Asia Cup 2022, finally managed to come into his own which meant it was advantage India.

Jadeja is one of the most potent all-rounders in the Indian team. The 34-year-old is a superb spin allrounder and can up his game as a fielder. On most occasions, he impacts the batting team with his fielding ability besides getting his team unexpected breakthroughs with the ball.

Against Australia in Mumbai on Friday, Jadeja removed the dangerman with a stunning delivery and then helped Kuldeep Yadav with Labuschagne’s wicket. The ball had turned a bit and the batter had mistimed which meant the Jadeja had to improvise quickly.

Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj scalped three and Ravindra Jadeja bagged two wickets to help India bundle out Australia for 188 in the 35.3 overs in the opening ODI of the three-match series here at Wankhede Stadium on Friday.

Mitchell Marsh scored the highest for Australia with 81 off 65 deliveries while Josh Inglis scored 26. For India Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj bagged three while Ravindra Jadeja scalped two wickets. 

Opted to bowl first, India got off to a fine start as Mohammed Siraj provided his team with a big wicket of Travis Head in the second over of the game. Opener Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith then handled the charge as they slammed Indian bowlers for big boundaries at regular intervals.
