The ICC World Test Championship Final is all set to be played between India and Australia at the Oval in England from 7th June to 11th June. The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League has almost come to a close with CSK reaching the final for a record 10th time. After the IPL, the Indian team will travel to England for the WTC final against the Aussies and the Men in Blue will look to make amends for their last loss to New Zealand.
The WTC final is certainly going to be one to watch. But what other things are must-watches? Of course, the players. So, here’s taking a look at the top 3 Indian players to watch out for in the WTC final.
ICC WTC Final: Top 3 Key Indian Players
3. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami has been in top-notch form with the ball this IPL season, and is the title contender for the purple cap as well. Not only in T20Is, Shami has been extremely instrumental for India in all formats of the game. Now that Bumrah is out of the picture for the WTC final, Shami will be entrusted with the responsibility to lead the pace attack for India. His experience, amalgamated with his prowess and success on English pitches are all reasons why he will be a key player for India.
2. Rohit Sharma
Although Rohit Sharma has not had the best IPL season, which might also be considered a season to forget, we cannot disregard how impactful he is when it comes to white-ball cricket. He is the perfect Test opener for India and has made a huge impact as a Test captain and player, ever since Virat Kohli handed over the reins to him. Not only that, his records in England across all three formats speak for themselves. Sharma’s fitness and form will be of utmost importance for India in the WTC final.
1. Virat Kohli
After a marvellous individual IPL season, all eyes will be on India’s most crucial and best player, i.e. none other than the king himself, Virat Kohli. Kohli is in splendid form with the bat at the moment, and the WTC final could not have come at a better time. The 34-year old batsman smashed two consecutive centuries for RCB in the ongoing edition of the IPL. Talking about his test records, he has more than 8,000 runs, 28 centuries, along with a prolific average of 48. Not just that, Kohli’s record in England is nothing short of phenomenal, as witnessed during India’s tour in 2018. And of course, the King is extremely pumped and at his very best when India takes on Australia.
