The massive breaking news update coming in is that the trio of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Hardik Pandya and senior batsman Virat Kohli are all set to be rested for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia at home. After a magnificent victory against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final, India will be taking on Australia in the first ODI match at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on 22 September, 2023. This three-match ODI series against Aussies will definitely serve as a good preparation for the Men in Blue before the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 scheduled to be hosted at home.

Rohit, Virat, Hardik and Bumrah rested for the Australia ODIs?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to announce India's squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia at home. However, it is being understood that the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah will not be playing the three ODI match against the Aussie side. With less than a week to go for the World Cup 2023 at home, the Indian team management wants to focus on the workload management of these players.

Incidentally, the Men in Blue will be playing as many as three ODI matches against Australia in a time span of just six days from 22 to 27 September in Mohali, Indore and Rajkot respectively. India recently selected their best possible 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023 where many of the players like skipper Rohit Sharma featured in all of the six matches including the big final in Colombo.

However, there is still no confirmation on these four main players resting for the entire ODI series against Australia. According to reports, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar will be announcing the squad during a virtual press conference on 18 September, 2023.

The Indian team will also be playing as many as two warm-up matches against England and Netherlands ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. India's first match in the mega event will be against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 8 October, 2023.
