The Indians batted first and their wickets kept falling. No batsman could really score big except for Srikar Bharat, who was the light in the dark for the Indians. Bharat has been a part of the Indian setup for about 3 years but never got the chance to play for the Men in Blue. He was given a chance in the practice test and boy has he taken it with both hands!
Bharat scored 70 runs off 111 deliveries with 8 fours and 1 six at a strike rate of 63.06 before India declared their innings. Roman Walker decimated the Indian batting order and took 5 wickets, giving away just 24 off 11 overs.
Rishabh Pant, who is playing for the Leicestershire side for the practice match was the highest scorer for his side with the bat. He scored 76 off 87 deliveries with 14 fours and 1 six at a strike rate of 87.36.
The best bowling figures for India came from Shami and Jadeja who took 3 wickets each. Thakur and Siraj also starred with the ball as they both took 2 wickets each.
India are batting again and are currently leading by 332 runs in the second innings. Virat Kohli came back to form and scored 67 off 98 with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Shreyas Iyer also joined in with the bat, hitting 62 off 88 with 11 fours, and is currently playing.
